One of our clients is planning to put their house on the market soon…and with some input from us and even more input and elbow grease from them, they came up with a plan to fix up the house in preparation for putting it on the market. There are a lot of houses on the market now at Smith Mountain Lake, so we like to suggest to sellers that their house be “the shiniest apple in the barrel”.
This morning we went over to see what they had done…WHOA! I mean WOW! I mean what a difference a coat of paint (or two or three) make on kitchen cabinets for one…changing the exterior colors for another…it was a whole change in the “look and feel” of the house…much for the better. I know that the hot new thing is “staging your home to sell” but I really feel that where you put a piece of furniture or a towel doesn’t impress buyers half as much as paying attention to the “bones” of the house that are going to be left behind when the seller departs…
Coming back, I noticed that someone had painted the Lakeland Pines entrance sign from grey and blue to a white background with blue and green lettering. Looks MUCH better!
Maybe now that Smith Mountain Lake has its own Sherwin Williams store and Capp’s has yet again expanded its paint department by adding the Benjamin Moore line more people will be freshening up!
Edit: I got a giggle from WordPress while selecting categories for this entry…somehow Things to do at the Lake isn’t what most people have in mind!
